Book of Mudora

  How To Acquire: The Book of Mudora is required to enter the Desert Palace, but you must complete the Eastern Palace before you can retrieve it. Go to the library in the southern portion of Kakariko Village (it has a large book and quill above the door). Inside, you will see a green book on top of one of the bookshelves. Use the Pegasus Boots to ram into the bookshelf and cause the Book of Mudora to fall down. Then claim your prize.
  
  Uses: The Book of Mudora is an ancient text that allows you to read the script of the ancient Hylians. The book is only used to read a few passages throughout the game and only two of those are required to complete the game. The first required passage is in front of the Desert Palace. You must read it to gain entrance. The second is on top of Death Mountain on a green stone. Reading it will get you the Ether Medallion (which you need to enter Misery Mire).
  
  There are two other optional passages you can read. One is on the pedestal where the Master Sword lies. Reading it will get you nothing, but the poem explains how the hero will bring together the three pendants and claim the Master Sword. The second passage is on the eastern edge of the desert. It is another large green stone and reading it will get you the Bombos Medallion. It is a very powerful weapon, but it is not required to complete the game.
