Dark World Portals

The Magic Mirror allows you to leave the Dark World, but not enter it. If you need to enter the Dark World you will need to use one of the portals scattered around the Light World. That information is included on this page.

Hyrule Castle Gate

After you have defeated Agahnim for the first time, the gate of Hyrule Castle will transport you to the Dark World if you walk under it.

Death Mountain Portal

This is the first portal you will use. It is located near the top of Death Mountain just outside the Tower of Hera and Spectacle Rock. The portal is not hidden by any object, but you will need the Power Glove in order to make it up the mountain.

Eastern Palace Portal

An area south of the Eastern Palace has a portal hidden under a rock and surrounded by wooden stakes. You will need the Magic Hammer to reach it.

Swamp Ruins Portal

There is a portal hidden under a rock in the northwest corner of the Swamp Ruins south of Link’s house. You will need the Magic Hammer to reach it.

Kakariko Village Portal

There is a portal hidden under a rock on the northern outskirts of Kakariko Village. You will need the Titan’s Mitt to reach it.

Desert of Mystery Portal

There is a portal hidden on the ledge and under a rock on a cliff in the southwestern corner of the Desert of Mystery. You cannot reach the ledge without using the Flute and you cannot gain access to the portal without the Titan’s Mitt.

Turtle Rock Portal

A cliff on eastern Death Moutain (which is Turtle Rock in the Dark World) has a portal on it. The path is blocked by a rock that can only be moved by the Titan’s Mitt and you must use the Magic Hammer to open the portal. There are three stakes and you must hit them in the proper order to open the portal: right, top, left.
