- Bombs

Location: Shops, Treasure Chests
How To Acquire: There are two ways to acquire the bombs. The first is to find them in a treasure chest. There are several chests throughout the game that have bombs inside, but the first is in the northwest corner of Kakariko Village. There is a cave that you can enter by jumping off a ledge and into a hole. Once inside, open the chests to find some bombs and money. Once there, you can also test out your bombs on the northern wall to find a Piece of Heart.
The second option will cost you some money. There is a shop in Kakariko Village (and other shops throughout the game) that sell bombs. This is a fast way to restock if you run out, but once you have found or purchased the bombs one time enemies, bushes, and pots will begin dropping them to make it easier to keep a steady supply.
Uses: Bombs are primarily used to open new paths. There are many clearly marked weak walls throughout the game. Many of them hold secrets (such as rupees or pieces of heart) but others are inside dungeons and must be removed before you can continue.
Bombs are sometimes used to solve puzzles by hitting switches from a distance (you can pick up and throw bombs). Using a bomb instead of another weapon, like the boomerang, allows you to have a few seconds before the switch is flipped. This strategy is needed in some dungeons.
Bombs are also effective in defeating some enemies. However, using them requires precise timing and can quickly waste away your supply. It is usually better to find another weapon more suitable for the job.
Other Tips:
- You can increase the maximum number of bombs you carry by throwing rupees into the fairy fountain in the center of Lake Hylia.
